Femke Bol's voice: Endearing or distracting? What's your take on the Dutch track star's unique sound?

Femke Bol has been setting the track on fire with her incredible times, but her latest viral moment came after she and the Dutch team smoked the U.S. in the 4×400 meter relay at the Paris Olympics. Social media went wild with the video of Bol’s dramatic win, but amid the frenzy, TikTok user Erin Spider Brown shared an intriguing clip from the World Indoor Championships in March 2024.

In this old clip, Bol’s high-pitched voice, reminiscent of Mickey Mouse, resurfaced. Brown, clearly amused, shared in the video, “Guys, what the hell is going on with Femke Mouse Bol?” Erin Spider Brown shared how he had never watched Femke Bol do an interview before, so he was surprised by her high-pitched voice. He mentioned that someone pointed out to him that “steroid use deepens your voice, and a lot of women back in the day who were on steroids would either play sick during interviews or they would just use a fake voice using a higher-pitched voice.”

Brown clarified that he wasn’t accusing Femke of anything but found her Disney character-like voice intriguing. He even joked that as long as she wasn’t beating Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, he was “cool with it,” but he couldn’t help but be fascinated by Femke Bol’s unique voice.

When she’s not competing, Femke Bol, who holds the world record in the 400-meter short track, usually sounds normal, with just a slightly higher pitch to her voice. But after a race, especially when she’s winded and excited, her voice transforms into that adorable, high-pitched tone that’s been compared to Mickey Mouse. This quirky trait adds a playful side to her fierce on-track persona, capturing the imagination of fans and making her even more endearing. Reflecting on this, Femke Bol isn’t just going viral for her adorable voice; she’s also turning heads at the Paris Olympics with her fierce speed!
