He will be participating to defend his Wanamaker Mile title. Yared Nuguse’s chances of attaining world record in the 2024 Millrose Games

The US outdoor mile record holder Yared Nuguse is all geared up to return to the Armory track and field center. He has his eyes set on defending his men’s Wanamaker Mile title at the 116th Millrose Games.
The Millrose Games is the sixth stop on the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold calendar. Every enthusiast is on their toes to witness the magic of Nuguse once again. However, this year one thing that is more important than winning the first position – attaining the world record. Last year, he won the event and set a US indoor mile record of 3:47.38.
With this win, he got very near to the world record set by the Yomif Kejelcha in 2019. Kejelcha set the world record with a score of 3:47.01. Nuguse was just behind with Kejelcha’s score by very few seconds.
According to CitiusMag, Yared Nuguse expressed, “It feels like a goal that’s within my grasp of achieving”. This proves the possibility of him making a world record this time. He shared many more of his feelings regarding the upcoming track and field spree.

Yared Nuguse spoke about his feelings when asked about the world record. He compared himself to the last season and said he has came a long way. Nuguse expressed, “Not only I am stronger and smarter than I was last year, but I feel like I’ve come a long way”. He further added, “I will be able to attack this race with a lot more confidence to chase the world record”.
Yared Nuguse also mentioned that when he made his debut in this race, he just had his eyes on breaking the American record. So, now he is changing his mindset and is confident that attaining the world record is very much possible at this time. The anticipation is on the pinnacle at the moment and his fans are on their toes to witness Nuguse’s record-winning possibility come true.

“It’s going to be a challenge but I think it’s what I’m capable of since I didn’t lead a ton last year at Millrose and was still able to get up there at 400 or 500 (meters) to go. If I can just carry that energy as soon as the pacer drops off and continue to push a little more than I think I need to, I think that will be really helpful – just getting to where I want to be with a lap to go.” conceded Nuguse.
