Thompson-Herah had an injury at the USATF New York City Grand Prix, forcing her to leave the racetrack because of Achilles tendon discomfort. Following her eighth-place finish in the competition with an average speed of 11.48 seconds, she headed off for treatment in Germany.

Thompson-Herah’s injuries and decision have substantial consequences for the Olympics in Paris. Other rivals are keen to jump in and take advantage of her time away from the 200-meter race. Thompson-Herah, meantime, turns her attention to the 100-meter racing, where Sha’Carri Richardson establishes herself to be a strong rival.

Thompson-Herah’s competition with American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson is prominent as she concentrates on the 100 meters. With her recent strong form, Richardson should be among Thompson-Herah’s primary rivals in Paris. Billie Jean King has remarked, Champions keep playing until they get it right, and Elaine Thompson-Herah reflects on this idea. Though she can’t compete at her best right now, there’s still hope that she’ll recover and get back to her full potential later.
