A European track icon, Joe Gugh, is surely one of them. A recent video by Athletics Weekly surfaced on Instagram featuring the athlete finishing a 1500-meter race during the World Indoor Masters in Torun, Poland.

The 70-year-old star won the Masters title this year, while already boasting multiple European and world titles under his belt. Therefore, his fantastic performance at the event encouraged several fans to hail the athlete in the comments section.

The Instagram update posted hours ago displayed Gough leaping through the track with long, steady steps. While the fans hooted and cheered for him, he effortlessly aced the run donning a green jersey. “Imagine being over 70 and running a 30-second last 200m,” the caption hinted. Moreover, the athlete trains at the West Waterford Athletics Club, per sources.

“That’s what Ireland’s Joe Gough did to win the 1500m masters title at the recent World Champs in Poland. Absolutely insane,” it added. The Irish septuagenarian grabbed a double gold at the 2018 World Masters Athletic Championships in Malaga. It was an illustrious season for him particularly because he was named the World Masters Athlete of the Year, a path-breaking win for his country.

Reportedly, the track idol has no plans of retiring anytime soon. He looks forward to participating in the over-100s category in the future and claims he has no reason to stop. In less than a day, the snippet amassed 16k views and over 1k likes. One fan stunned by his endeavor, wrote, “I’m speechless. Definity life/future goals. I want to be that guy when I’m 70,” whereas another was awestruck by his “incredible” agility.
