Where is Noah Lyles going to stop? In the present track and field world, this question may startle even the best in the business. Last year the American sprinter threw a fitting reply to all those critics who demeaned his chance on the tracks where Christian Coleman was eyeing for the champion’s suit. Noah Lyles diminished his American counterpart’s razor-sharp attack by defeating him in 100m in Budapest. Eventually, he came out to be the three-peater from the WAC 2023. The doubt started brewing again this year.

Moreover, a former world champion supported Letsile Tebogo in dismissing Noah’s chances beforehand. But again Noah Lyles did what he could best do- etching the best result. However, being not to be the brief champion, the 26-year-old sprinter had something to say there, and the world listened to it.

Yet another day in office for Noah Lyles, but with better support

The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix was Noah Lyles’s first cup of tea this year. The contention ended with his staunch challenge to the world records in the three categories. “We’re coming after everything. All the Olympic medals. I don’t care who wants it. It’s mine”, Noah roared to the camera in Boston. Interestingly, that seems to have made Justin Gatlin change his view. The 10x world champion who once voiced for Tebogo backed the reigning world champion’s thorough run and disbursed a better future for him. “I see 9.7 in his future”, Gatlin said. There’s no need to storm the brain as Gatlin’s personal best in 100m is 9.74 seconds.

It was the platform of the Ready Set Go podcast where the 42-year-old American champion crafted a paean for his junior and set himself to be Noah’s next aim. “The transition was impressive. I was actually impressed by it” Justin Gatlin confessed about Noah Lyles. But he thought that to be in the 100m champion’s top-5 category, Noah would have to continue the same form.

“If he runs 100 meters like he just ran at 60, he’s about to be a problem outdoors for real”: that part came from someone who utterly enjoyed having two 100m and two 60m world championships in his kitty. So, to match him, Noah Lyles would have to cross some daunting peaks. Thankfully, those peaks are on the calendar for the coming days.

The goal of achieving every record and the pebbles in the shoes

After usurping the world-leading 60m timing, Noah Lyles set his eyes on the other track records. However, the platform that could give him the best chance for achieving outdoor records is the Olympic Games. But before that, the USATF indoor games and Glasgow Indoor Championship are on the trot.

Noah will face there Christian Coleman, the former world champion, and another phenom, Fred Kerley. Eventually, the sprinter on whom Justin Gatlin centered his much hope last year, Letsile Tebogo will come to the Olympic grounds to face the three-peater. But again, Noah Lyles would be the best bet from the USA in the coming days. “The American records could be in jeopardy,” the host conceded, at least.
