Femke Bol's record-breaking runs—are we witnessing the rise of a new track and field queen?

“We’ve trained so hard together to make this a Dutch one-two,” said Femke Bol after claiming the world athletics indoor championships in March after defeating Alexis Holmes of the United States. Coming to the Paris Olympics the 24-year-old looked even better and has already won a race.

Yes, Femke Bol had already made a name for herself at the Tokyo Olympics, and now she’s representing the Netherlands at the Stade de France. But what about her speed? Just how fast is she?

When speaking of Femke Bol’s speed the athlete comes with some exceptional records of her own. Starting with the World Athletics Indoor championships she broke her own 400 meters world record. The 24-year-old clocked 49.17 seconds and took 0.07 off the record she set at the Dutch championships. Yes, it’s one of her best times yet. Bol’s performances in the 200-meter and 200-meter short track are equally impressive, both clocking in at 22.64.

That’s not it, her training partner as well as her teammate Lieke Klaver finished second at the World Athletics Indoor Championships with a time of 50.16. Their achievements made history as they became the first two Dutch athletes to reach the podium in the same event. Femke Bol claimed bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.

Three years after Bol is back with better form and already has a gold for her name after she defeated America at the 4×400-meter Olympic race on Saturday last week. The 24-year-old is now eying for her second gold at the Paris Olympics and getting ready for the 400m hurdles final on Thursday. Surprisingly her speed isn’t the only thing that stands her out.
