While many would assume that the title of the fastest man in the world belongs to triple world champion Noah Lyles or the world 60m record holder Christian Coleman, the clandestine holder of that title is actually a high schooler named Christian Miller. Despite his youth, Miller is tearing up the track with a ferocity that suggests he’s already gunning for the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, recently, Miller shared a close resemblance with Noah Lyles.

The 17-year-old sprinter showed his talent by clocking an impressive 9.93 to secure victory in the 100m at the PURE Athletics Elite Invitational. Surprisingly, it was Noah Lyles who trailed behind him, finishing second with a time of 9.96 at the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix. However, in a recent interview with Track World News, Miller discussed his unique running style, highlighting variances both in terms of height and technique when compared to Lyles and Christian Coleman.

Expanding on this comparison, Miller remarked, We go like a height standpoint I might be a little bit closer to Christian Coleman. I’m not really on the tallest side but I’ll still run like pretty tall.” (Christian Coleman stands at 1.75 meters.) Ultimately, after dissecting various elements of his running style, Miller settled on Lyles as the most fitting comparison. I’d say, probably, in terms of running style, I’m closest to someone like Noah Lyles, to be honest, he remarked, citing their similarities. It’s worth noting that while he’s now making moves to Paris, his meteoric rise to fame occurred just last year in 2023.

In 2023, Christian Miller achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the USATF U20 championship titles in both the 100m and 200m events. Clocking an impressive 10.06 seconds and 20.51 seconds, respectively, he left a mark in the record books. His 100m sprint not only secured him the junior class record but also stood as the fourth-fastest time in high school history. Notably, his time in the 100m event surpassed Puripol Boonson’s, setting a new U18 world record.

Reflecting on his journey, the youngster confessed to idolizing the legendary Usain Bolt during his formative years. Like many aspiring sprinters, he harbored the dream of emulating Bolt’s unmatched speed and prowess on the track. However, his focus has now shifted towards contemporary sprinting stars like Noah Lyles, Christian Coleman, Letsile Tebogo, and Erriyon Knighton, captivated by their achievements and techniques. With every step he takes, Miller propels himself not only toward the finish line but also toward his aspiration of standing among the sprinting elite.
