Is Claire Holt setting a new standard for celebrity involvement in charity marathons?

The Chicago Marathon is expected to see a massive turnout, with the hosts estimating around 50,000 participants. This diverse field includes everyone from Olympic champions to Hollywood stars, each with unique goals. While Sifan Hassan aims to secure another victory and cap off her flawless summer, television actress Claire Holt has set her sights on a distinct challenge. Among the many participants in the Open category testing their endurance, few will display the same determination as The Vampire Diaries actress.

This isn’t the first time Claire Holt is preparing to participate in a marathon. In 2022, she took part in the New York City Marathon with a noble cause driving her. Holt pushed her limits, running the entire 26.2 miles to raise funds for Boston Children’s Hospital. Remarkably, she gathered a stunning $162,000 for donation. Now, two years later, that amount has grown, proving that her commitment to making a difference is as strong as ever. Quite impressive, isn’t it?

In a recent interaction with Rob Dalto, Claire Holt shared that she has already raised over $250,000 for her cause, but she’s not stopping there. This Sunday, Holt will appear in the Windy City to tackle another long race—the 2024 Chicago Marathon. Her goal remains the same: to push her limits, collect more funds from the event, and donate them to Boston Children’s Hospital. But the job of running the entire distance under the scorching can be a daunting task for a 36-year-old personality. So didn’t Claire think about it before entering her name? Rob Dalto had the question.

However, The Originals star is not among the ones to give up on her target. While opening up to Dalto, Holt displayed her concern over the increasing number of suicide attempts in the USA. She seems concerned about the severe pangs of suicide ideation that have afflicted even 10-year-old children in the United States. Being the mother of three children, Claire Holt can’t stay a mute spectator while the issue is dismantling American society.

That’s why she has decided to compete in the Chicago Marathon 2024. Additionally, the actress has another reason to carry on with her choice. By attempting such an enduring event, she wants to set an example in front of her three kids.

In the conversation, she revealed, “I just want to show them that they can do anything they set their mind to. It is a privilege to choose our suffering, and I’m choosing to suffer for a cause, and I want them to learn that they’re privileged and they can do that too, to help other people.” Moreover, she has a hope of watching her kids compete in a marathon someday, running beside her. Is it too much to ask? Well, Claire Holt isn’t the only representative from the tinsel town to register for the Chicago Marathon 2024.

On Sunday, Miller, the 2023 Grammy Award winner, will enter the Chicago Marathon as a fellow runner who finds humor in competing in marathons. In the past, she threw her challenge to other competitors in the New York City Marathon, not just once but twice in both 2022 and 2023. Her avatar on the silver screen has appeared in the character of Commander Paylor in The Hunger Games. But on Sunday, she will not run as a rebel leader. Instead, she will be another runner, determined to finish the race in a respectable time. Will these champions of life take down the challenge the Chicago Marathon poses?
