Junelle Bromfield is trying to find refuge outside of Jamaica. The Jamaican made her country proud by securing bronze in Tokyo 2020. Unfortunately, she has not been reciprocated with the same amount of honor by her countrymen. Since the time Bromfield disclosed her relationship with Noah Lyles, the Jamaican athlete has been a victim of cyberbullying. With the fierce track and field rivalry between the USA and Jamaica already on, the coming together of Lyles and Bromfield has created quite an adverse impact. 

The situation went so out of hand that even Noah Lyles had to intervene and make a strong statement. Reacting to the backlash Bromfield has been facing, Lyles mentioned “getting the drama” from Jamaica for “five years.” After the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, things became even worse as Bromfield started getting death threats. And if that was not enough, Bromfield is now fearful about stepping inside her own country. 

Junelle Bromfield finds solace outside Jamaica 

Junelle Bromfield is having a dark phase at the moment. Having lost her mother recently, the Jamaican athlete also could not perform as per expectations in the French capital. In a recent revelation from Simone Clarke, the horrid reality of how serious things are back in Jamaica sent chills down the spines of track and field fans. Clarke recently approached Bromfield for an interview on her ‘Sim Soul Sessions’ show. 

While Bromfield did agree to do the interview, she did not want to go to Jamaica. As per Clarke’s account, Bromfield has been getting death threats from fans back in Jamaica. Now, at first glance, this might not seem like too big of an issue. Celebrity athletes are often subjected to online hatred. But people in Jamaica do believe that Junelle Bromfield is actually a ‘traitor’. Quite surprising, isn’t it? 

Interestingly, Noah Lyles has quite a part to play in this narrative. The Olympic champion once mentioned that he got all the inside news of the Jamaican camp from his girlfriend. Now, it is not known whether Lyles made the statement in good humor. But surely, the Jamaican fans did not like it. After the comment became public, the vicious attacks towards Bromfield became even more intense. Fortunately for the Jamaican athlete, after Simone Clarke shared her concerns regarding Junelle Bromfield’s well-being, several fans have been coming up with words of apology for the athlete.

Reacting to Simone Clarke’s statement, fans flocked to the comments section and extended their words of apology. Expressing regret and disappointment over Junelle Bromfield’s treatment by her fellow Jamaicans, one fan acknowledged that she represented Jamaica with dedication, despite now facing harsh backlash. They commented, “We owe this young lady big apology it’s very disheartening and disappointing how she was treated when she single-handedly ran the most races representing our country.” The commenter also believes that the nation owes her an apology for the mistreatment, particularly as she ran numerous races for Jamaica.

One fan added highlighted that it’s shameful how Bromfield has been treated by her own countrymen. “Such a shame that someone that represents this nation on the global stage has to go through all of this by the same set of people that calls themselves Jamaicans,” read the comment. Despite the cyberbullying and threats, the fan offered encouragement, implying that Bromfield will persevere and continue succeeding in her career, despite the negativity.

Conveying sympathy and support for Junelle Bromfield and apologizing for the negativity she faced despite representing Jamaica, one fan wrote, “@junellebromfield I’m so sorry that you have had to endure all that negativity whilst representing your country. I was in Paris with my flag in the stands cheering you on. I pray God’s protection over your hear and mind that you will heal from all the trauma, that you will not fear for God is with you.” The fan also reassures Bromfield of God’s protection, encourages her to keep thriving, and predicts future success.

Praising Junelle Bromfield’s resilience amid the hardships she has faced, including cyberbullying and death threats, another X user wrote, “Wow, resilient @junellebromfield !!! I am sorry that you have gone through so much. Stay strong, and God has clearly given you beautiful hope and opportunities Continue to use your pain, your past, and your perseverance to inspire others!!!”

Acknowledging that Jamaica has wronged her through online attacks and death threats, another user expressed sympathy and regret toward Junelle Bromfield’s situation. “Jamaica owes you an apology! Keep pushing forward young lady the sky is the limits,” commented the fan. Thus, with so many things going on, Junelle Bromfield will surely feel a lot more at ease following the apologies coming her way.
