Grant Holloway stood atop the podium once again. The Olympic medalist claimed his third consecutive World Athletics Championship title after winning a 110m hurdle. On August 22, the NBC Olympics and Paralympics posted a video of his win with the caption, “Grant Holloway is a three-time World Champion.” After clinching the victory, Holloway was seen holding three fingers in the air to show his dominance on the World Athletics Championship tracks.
The athlete attained his third title with his best time of the season of 12.96 seconds. While 33-year-old Jamaican sprinter Hansle Parchment clinched the silver with 13.07 and Daniel Roberts of the United States settled for the third position on the podium by clocking at a time of 13.09. Amid talking about the essence of his victory, Holloway told the media, “I’m speechless right now. Nothing feels like the first one, but this one I’m definitely going to cherish in my heart.” This win was highly anticipated for the US sprinter. As after only securing silver in the last championships, the athlete wanted to reach the pinnacle.
Disappointing results at the Tokyo Olympics
After almost breaking the world record in the Olympic trials, Grant Holloway secured his ticket for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. However, the Olympics’ final hurdle race did not go according to Holloway’s plan. Grant Holloway, who started strong, went off-balance after crossing his 10th hurdle on the tracks of Tokyo, while Hansle Parchment maintained the lead. And at last, Parchment secured the gold for Jamaica by clocking in at 13.04, while Holloway had to settle for silver with a time of 13.09.
