The 2024 Olympic year has commenced, and sports enthusiasts are with bated breath counting down the days for The City of Light to show its mettle. All of them have stepped into this new year with a lot of hope for exceptional track and field performances and commendable events. It’s evident that the highlight of this year is the Paris Olympics, but multiple other events have a high capacity to grab attention. 2023 was an ideal year for the track and field community. 

From the Indoor Championships to the Diamond Leagues, every event was a blast. The track and field community has turned the page to 2024 looking forward to the same. This year the track and field menu has a long list of track and field meets to take place. Here is an rundown at the incredible events of 2024.

The track and field events

The track and field enthusiasts witnessed some powerful performances in some of the most commendable events. The eyes are set on 2024 with the heightened expectations. The list of events and meets to take place this year is already out. Be it the Paris Olympics or any other event, interestingly, each one of them has its zeal. Here are the details about the events. 

The very first track event of 2024 is the Gibson Relays, which will be held on the 24th of February. It is one of the best run track and field meets in Jamaica. Following this event comes the WIC which will be held from the 1st of March to the 3rd of March. After that, NCAA Indoors will occur on the 8th and 9th of March. 

March is the month with most track and field meets, the third meet of the month is ISSA Championships, which is a five-day event starting on the 19th of March and will end on the 23rd of March. There is a lot more in the 2024 roster. 

The smorgasbord of 2024 events

From the 25th to the 27th of April, the Penn Relays will take place and following that will start everyone’s favorite, Diamond League. This will go on till September. Then comes the World Relays, which will be held on the 4th and 5th of May. Joining March in the most track and field events comes June with three meets to witness in this month.

The first one is the NCAA Outdoors, which will go on from the 5th of June to the 8th of June. In the last week of June, the USA OT will take place from the 21st to the 30th of June, and in the same week JA OT will also be held from the 27th to the 30th of June. After this is the most awaited and anticipated of all, the Paris Olympics.

This exceptional event will start on the 1st of August and will end on the 11th of August. Gear up and buckle in for a profusion awaiting you.
