Shericka Jackson once again did what she does best in the 200-meter events. In a span of a few days, the Jamaican sprinter registered another dominating victory at the Zurich Diamond League. She almost made it look like a one-sided finish and added another feather to her 200-meter sprint crown. However, though she clinched another 200m title, the Jamaican sprinter didn’t surpass Florence Griffth Joyner’s 21.34-second record that Flo-Jo created in 1988.

First, she clocked her 200m sprint in 21.41 seconds on the tracks of Budapest, then in Zurich, she blazed through the track and clocked the timeframe of 21.82 seconds. Though in both the events, she stood victorious, Jackson didn’t come closer to Flo-Jo’s 35-year-old timeframe that she created back in 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

29-year-old Shericka Jackson, who is also the fastest 200-meter woman alive, once again stood atop the podium in Zurich. She finished the race in 21.82 seconds and left behind her fellow sprinters by a significant margin.

She is constantly looked up to as the one who can challenge Flo’Jo’s 200-meter record, and she has come close to the record several times. In 2022, she became the world champion after clocking a stunning time of 21.45 seconds, which was only 11 seconds shy of Joyner’s record.

In the 2023 World Athletics Championships that concluded last month, she claimed a one-sided victory in the 200-meter finals and was way ahead of her competitors.

She started the race well, and for a moment it looked like she was going to create history and looked all set to stun the world, but again she fell short of a few seconds and could not breach that fine line. However, there are few races left in the 2023 season, so the fans and the track and field world is all set to witness Jackson perform he magic on the tracks and come closer to Flo-Jo’s 35-year-old record.
