Is the Jamaican track community too harsh on Junelle Bromfield, or is their reaction justified?

With the high-octane Olympics drama keeping the fans on the edge of their seats, Noah Lyles and his girl, Junelle Bromfield too, felt the brunt. Unfortunately, it was some serious business that they were trying to take care of. The Jamaican track and field star suddenly found herself in the midst of a scathing controversy. There was some immense trolling from the Jamaicans, which did not spare even Bromfield’s deceased mother. Labeled as a ‘traitor’ and sometimes ‘Judas’, Bromfield was pushed to the point that she stopped seeking forgiveness.

Now, standing in the middle of this fierce hatred, Bromfield was desperately in search of answers. Well, not that she did get some definitive ones, but there surely was light at the end of the tunnel. As it turned out, it was her partner’s words on the ‘Track World News’ podcast that created all the drama. Speaking about the Jamaican camp, Noah Lyles mentioned, “I have been getting the drama from Jamaican camps for at least five years now.” The Olympic 100m champion also went on to state that he learned all these from his girlfriend. Well, despite not diving into the nitty-gritty, the statement seemed to have set off the timer on a ticking bomb.

Quite expectedly, it exploded, and Bromfield even started getting death threats. Horrified to the core, the Jamaican athlete, at one point, was fearful enough not to step foot in his own homeland. Luckily, with support from Noah Lyles and his family, Bromfield has slowly learned to cope with the circumstantial challenges. In a recent Instagram upload, Junelle Bromfield spoke about how she tackled the hatred. Bromfield was seen walking up to her car confidently as the background voice echoed, “Let them say whatever the hell they want to say at the time. They’re just jealous anyway. But this is what I found out. All that matters is that when you wake up every morning, you look in the mirror, and God is pleased with your life. That’s what matters.” Thankfully, Bromfield found solace in Noah Lyles’ family as they welcomed her with open arms.

Traveling to Lyles’ hometown recently, Junelle Bromfield was overwhelmed to receive a bucket full of love from the locals. She then recalled how Lyles’ mother, Keisha Caine, invited her to stay as a family member without asking to pay rent. She also remembered how Caine took her to training and would always turn up on time to take her back home. Recently, Lyles and Bromfield got engaged after the former proposed to his girlfriend last Saturday.

In a video posted on social media, Lyles was spotted asking Bromfield the all-important question. The venue was decorated romantically, as there were heart-shaped pink flowers with candles and petals scattered on the floor. Agreeing with Lyles, Bromfield accepted the proposal while flashing the ring on her finger. Thus, all in all, the dark looming shadow of negativity is looking to have finally departed from Bromfield’s life. Surprisingly, the Jamaican fans too seemed to be siding with Bromfield, as was evident with the comments posted on her latest upload.
