The 2023 track and field season was a rollercoaster ride for the sporting world. The athletics world was treated to some great track and field competitions. Be it the USATF championships, the Miramar Invitational, or even the World Athletics Championships, it was a hell of a season. However, the athletics realm was left heartbroken when the Birmingham World Indoor Tour was cancelled following the ignorance of the $100,000,000 City Council Fine in Birmingham. The event that was supposed to be organized next year in February no longer exists.
Amid this disappointment, World Athletics has announced a new update for the fans, and it is going to be a major step in the world of track and field. It is also going to be a ray of hope for the athletes and the sports enthusiasts.

Third and last way to get their spot fixed in the championships, the track stars will qualify on the basis of their position in the world rankings. The pentathlon and heptathlon events will have 12 each, and they will be decided through their rankings in the 2023 world outdoor lists; only the top five will be selected, and the same process will be followed for the 2024 world indoor lists.
