Christian Coleman’s latest antics had his parents’ hearts in their mouths! While the recent days have been one of the rosiest ones for Coleman’s family, the tension building up to the glory was intense. Coleman clinched victory at the World Indoors 60m as his parents watched from the stands. However, a clip of the 28-year-old’s mother expressing her concern has gone viral on the internet.
It is quite obvious for a mother to be tense about her son. Especially, when the occasion is the World Indoors final. Fortunately for Daphne Coleman, her tension ended in elation after her son clinched yet another World Record to make her proud.

The video was posted on X by NBC Olympics & Paralympics. In the nineteen-second video, we witness the closing seconds of the men’s 60m final of the 2024 World Indoors. With arch-rival Noah Lyles in hot pursuit, Coleman’s parents were looking anxiously towards the finish line. His mother especially, had her hands on her mouth as it was evident she could not curb her anxiety.

However, Coleman was way ahead of other athletes. He gifted his parents one of the proudest moments as he clocked a world record 6.41s to clinch the 60m gold. This was a significant milestone for Coleman and also a new chapter in the Lyles-Coleman rivalry. Noah Lyles too, put on a valiant display, as he clinched the second spot clocking an impressive 6.44s.
Clocking at 6.46s, Ackeem Blake from Jamaica got the third position, missing the silver by just a couple of seconds. Reflecting upon his victory, Coleman stated that this was special as he wanted to better his disappointing performance in Serbia. Back in 2022, Coleman failed to clinch the top spot, finishing with a silver. And now after reestablishing his dominance, Coleman claimed himself the best runner at 60m.

Claims of being a confident sprinter in history
Soon after accomplishing the historic feat, Coleman was seen conversing with the media. In one such interaction, the 28-year-old spoke about how he felt about himself in the 60m realm. Coleman’s reply oozed confidence, “I feel like in my own right mentally, I have acquired the accolades that make me one of the greatest 60m runners.”

Coleman further stated that no athlete in history can ever touch the skills he possesses in 60m. Ahead of the Paris Olympics, Coleman feels that he is hitting his prime, and things are definitely falling into place for him. Well, Noah Lyles is all ears!
