Breaking world records is nothing new for Mondo Duplantis. The 24-year-old Swedish-American pole vaulter is known to soar the skies as he sets new benchmarks with ease. However, while his current outdoor world record stands tall at 6.24m, many fans believe he can push the boundaries even further. Additionally, with the recent financial boost to his Paris dreams, a record might not be too far-fetched an idea, and even AI seems to agree!

Using technology has become an integral part of all aspects of life, and sports aren’t any different. Athletes regularly make use of state-of-the-art innovations to push the boundaries of what humans can achieve. According to one such technological breakthrough, Duplantis might be reigning the food chain for some time to come.

In his recent Instagram post, Duplantis talked about how an AI model has predicted the athlete’s supremacy to continue for the foreseeable future. Written in Seddish, the post’s caption can be translated to read, “Now an AI scientist has calculated how high I can jump when I’m at my best.

Check out the height on Svenska Spel’s YouTube channel. Do you think I can handle it?” The accompanying video shows Duplantis talking about how it has been a unique experience to see his performances being translated into raw data and how the AI model used the same to analyze the possibility of him breaking the world record for a staggering ninth time.

Even Mondo’s father seemed to have faith in his prodigal son’s chances of going beyond the current record. While AI predicts Mondo might be able to clear 6.51m, Greg had a very realistic outlook about his son’s fighting mentality. “It’s you and the bar, you don’t stop because you’re better than everybody,” Dupantis Sr. could be heard saying in the video.

Mondo’s father seemed to think 6.40m should be a realistic speculation about the two-time World Championships gold medalist’s best score. However, Mondo might still need to keep his feet on the ground, considering the 2024 Olympics are just around the corner.

The defending Olympic gold medalist is putting in the final touches of his Olympic preparations with the Paris Games only a few weeks away. With the LSU star opting to represent Sweden on international stages, the country can almost bet on bagging gold in Paris in at least one event. However, other international stars like Ernest John Obiena, Christopher Nilsen, and Emmanouil Karalis can just as easily start giving Mondo a tough time when it would matter.

On the other hand, Duplantis’ latest world record-setting vault came this April at the Xiamen Diamond League, highlighting how he is at the top of his game. With people like his family and girlfriend being his regular cheerleaders, it remains to be seen if the Swede’s high-flying action prevails in Paris once again.
