A thorough track and field performance last season motivated Addison ‘Addy’ Wiley in August last year to think about further, i.e. an Olympic berth. But eventually, she was still on the college roster at Huntington University. However, even in that garb, the 20-year-old middle and long-distance running prodigy achieved better clocking in 1500m compared to pro athletes like Anna Camp-Bennett. So, eventually, it seemed to be waiting for an apt moment to achieve the pro contract for Addy Wiley.

That was what happened just six months before the Olympics. Addy Wiley has signed a handsome pro deal with a sporting stalwart who is famous for bringing out big names into the fore.

Previously Morgan Beadlescomb and Hobbs Kessler achieved the lucrative pro contract from Adidas in the categories Addy Wiley participates in. Both male athletes come with enormous success at the NCAA level and a huge prospect for the Olympics. Noah Lyles is also present in that contract with his handful of successes in short-distance sprinting from the Olympic and World Championship levels. Wiley just arrived on that pedestal, ironically, with her 8x NAIA State Championship titles and the same contract. The former Huntington University runner herself informed about the news on her Instagram post from January 23. The post unfurled, “///Impossible is nothing…3 days until I open up my indoor season and start my professional career as a 3 stripe athlete! Very excited to finally announce that I signed a contract with @adidasrunning !”

With that, she also expressed her gratitude toward her long-time manager, Paul Doyle of Doyle Management, for helping through thick and thin. With that, the NAIA cross-country champion shed her university contract in the championships. From now on, she’d participate in showcasing the Adidas camp. However, the athlete added about continuing with the same coaching team from earlier. Addy Wiley’s coaching team had already pushed her to the highest level, which motivated her Olympic dream.

The Olympic dream even with barriers

In childhood, Addy Wiley had survived a scare of cancer. But that couldn’t nullify her dream to become a sprinter of the highest quality. At the college level, she etched to be the only female athlete to dissipate the sub-2 category in 800m. In 1500m, she garnered the same hope of entering the sub-4 category in the 1500m event.

Moreover, in registering the record in the 1500m collegiate event last year, she overpowered former Olympic medalist Jenny Simpson’s record. That must have motivated Addy Wiley highly. Now, en route to the Olympics, she has her scheduled indoor tryst and the upcoming Glasgow Indoor Championship. Addy would look into those contentions fervently.
