The track and field world has witnessed several trailblazing female athletes over the years, and Hazel Clark of the United States is surely one of the most notable figures. The 46-year-old middle-distance runner has achieved several accolades in her athletic career, which include being a three-time Olympian and a two-time indoor champion. Apart from that, the Livingston-born legend also holds a sociology degree, which elevates her status as one of the most accomplished athletes.

The New Jersey-based athlete took it to Instagram stories and shared a reel in which a professor is asking his students to choose among the two options for the midterm. The first option is to do a 15-second dance in front of the whole class, and the second choice is to write a 15,000-word paper; on which a girl chooses a dance. Now, the track and field prodigy found that amusing and stated that there was no option for her because she would have excelled at the dance, as she writes, “There is no option for me. I would have turned it out. Do I have any option 2 friends? I need answers!”

The American middle distance sensation is known for her light-hearted personality, and she often shares witty posts on her social media, especially on Instagram. Apart from that, Hazel Clark is also balancing her life in her new position as a Director of Global Sales and Business Development in Bermuda and is perfectly handling her off-court endeavors, performing multiple roles.

The six-time United States champion has been an inspiration to many aspiring track and field women athletes, as she was one of the faces of Nike during her athletic days, which was a pioneering move back then. To keep the ladies even more motivated, Clark delivers TED Talks. During the 2024 International Women’s Day, she was invited to deliver a speech in Bermuda.

Hazel Clark got married to Shane McIlwain and has a daughter, and the family enjoys a happening life. In 2012, she was also inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame for her athletic prowess. She is also one of the rarest track and field athletes to have competed at three consecutive Olympics, i.e., 2000, 2004, and 2008, in the 800-meter domain.
