Cierra’s cousin, Tanner Simmons, hopped on X to spread the word about the campaign, sharing the sad news that “my sweet cousin, Cierra, lost her amazing husband Scott yesterday.”

Family Invites community to Track and Field Star’s Funeral
Now, Scott leaves behind his loving wife, Cierra, who’s also no stranger to the track and field world. Cierra, a former distance runner at Utah State, holds school records in both the indoor 3,000 meters and the distance medley relay—talk about leaving her own mark on the sport! Together with their two beautiful kids, Jayden and Parker, they’re navigating this heartbreaking journey, with memories of Scott close to their hearts.
On September 27, Cierra shared the heartbreaking details of Scott’s funeral on Instagram, saying, “Scott’s funeral will be held Friday, October 4th in Soda Springs, ID at 12:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints church building, 290 S Third West St.” She also mentioned viewings on Thursday, October 3rd, from 6:00-7:30 pm, and on Friday morning from 10:00-11:30 am at the same location. With all the love and support from the community, it’s clear how much Scott meant to everyone.
