“I was born to become a champion”: after receiving a forgettable defeat in the Prefontaine Classic 2021, Sha’Carri Richardson almost echoed the statement while venting her anger in the post-race conversation. However, after 3 years, this dialogue has somehow made her stand in the same line as Tara Davis-Woodhall. No, the fabled long jumper has not breathed fire, conceding the same lines. Rather, she has given voice to a character who has many things to prove, like Sha’Carri Richardson on the track fighting with constraints.

The character GABI we are talking about is not of flesh and blood. She is the lead in Netflix’s latest presentation, BIONIC, which is deeply similar to Tara Davis-Woodhall. Just like the American long-jumper, GABI also finds her fun game in crossing great lengths with her leaps. So, Netflix couldn’t find a better voice than Tara Davis-Woodhall to bring the character wholesomely on the screens. Yes, Tara has lent her voice to the character GABI in Netflix’s latest movie, BIONIC. The former Texas Longhorn has herself served the news on IG. Stunningly, it has come at that point when she has missed a chance to feature with Sha’Carri Richardson in the Sprint docu-series, set to roll out on July 2.

Ultimately, the yet-to-come docu-series has heavily focused on the 100m and 200m sprinters in their summer season in 2023. According to the insider stories, Sha’Carri Richardson’s aura from the Budapest World Athletics Championships 2023 will be heavily displayed in the series. Remember, in Nemzeti Atlétikai Központ, Budapest, SCR chased her salvation in both 100m and 200m events where glory touched her feet in the 100m, adorning her with the world champion title. Expectedly, Sprint will display everything as fellow athlete Marcell Jacobs informed that Netflix is going to make it large by including the back story. That could have become a set point for Tara Davis-Woodhall as well.

In Budapest Worlds, she missed her most cherishable moment by the 0.23 meter mark stopping at the runner-up position. The stadium eye witnessed her with all the silent emotions that made her numb for a few seconds internally. But being an inspiration, the 25-year-old had to remain standing with the merrier face as if nothing had happened there. Now, in BIONIC, Tara has found a conduit to display her emotional self through the long jumper’s character. And she has pulled it off beautifully. Furthermore, it had been her chance to show her disparage in the veil against the same track and field custom that had muddied her and Sha’Carri’s fame at once.

Netflix helps Sha’Carri Richardson and Tara Davis-Woodhall to find their voice once again

Last year, Tara Davis-Woodhall had to lose her US national indoor title after testing positive for THC- the psychoactive compound that had once left Sha’Carri Richardson in the dark alleys of being failed. As per the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), consumption of THC comes under an offense. So from time to time, the consumption of it has stirred the track and field world, in the form of losing the title or losing the Olympic qualification.

Yes, before the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Sha’Carri Richardson had been found guilty because of THC consumption. Ultimately, the penalty had come on heavily barring her from participating in the 100m event in the Tokyo Olympics. The sprinter, however, continuously mentioned that she had taken the THC (as m*******a) to decrease her ‘emotional panic’ after her mother’s death. But her statement fell short of saving her from being axed from the American track and field team for the Tokyo Olympics.

Meanwhile, Sha’Carri Richardson’s effort in Budapest helped her to establish herself again on the throne. But her statements like, “I just say, don’t judge me and I am human — I’m you” have acted as the mainstay to prove the human self of the athletes who have to remain standstill despite facing constraints. In Netflix’s presentation, this statement echoes again in Sha’Carri and Tara’s passive presence.
