In a post shared by Travis Miller on his Twitter handle (now X), Coleman revealed that he was sick before his big final. On a question about how his mentality was coming out of Budapest, Coleman replied, “I was encouraged, like I was sick about the final for about 24 hours, but everybody in my circle was like, listen, you can be upset about it now, but you’ve got more life to live and more races to run. It wasn’t my time; it hurt a little bit because I know what I’m capable of doing and I know what I was ready to do.”

He also added that coming to Xiamen is going to be a great opportunity to bounce back, and he was grateful that he came out healthy.

On Saturday, Coleman claimed the 100-meter title in Xiamen’s Egret Stadium after crossing the finish line in a stunning 9.83 seconds. With this finish, he also equaled the fastest 100 meter record of this year, along with Noah Lyles, who became world champion last month after clocking the same time.

Kishane Thompson of Jamaica trailed Coleman closely and finished second with a 9.85-second finish. While Fred Kerley was placed third with a 9.96-second finish. This victory was a gratifying achievement for Coleman, after the setback he encountered during the World Athletics 100-meter finals in Budapest.
