The 2023 track and field season ended on a great note. Beyond the Sha’Carris and Sherickas, 31-year-old Elaine Thompson-Herah, riddled with injuries, gave some incredible comeback performances. Sprinting into the season with hopes of breaking the 34-year-old record, she was far from it. Yet, the finale hit the sweet spot as she gave her season’s best (10.79 s in 100m), bagging her 2nd bronze for the 2023 season. Now, the season has ended and Thompson-Herah has a poetic hymn to share with her fandom, making a reference to the former first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.

0.01 second! That is all it took to make the difference. After asserting a head-on contest with her American counterparts, Thompson-Herah was able to sprint past Sha’Carri Richardson, who was considered a lock for the win. After all, the latter had a clean record of sprinting to the top of the podium in the 3 Diamond League Championships she participated in till then. Tenacity outshines the rest, and now, the fastest woman alive (100m) has penned her thoughts of optimism on her social media handle.
