The year 2023 was buzzing with excitement for the track and field world. Athletes like Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Shericka Jackson clinched world championship titles and framed another account on their wall of fame. Lyles reached the pinnacle of glory when he defended his 200-meter title while winning the 100-meter title as well. Richardson and Jackson also won the 100-meter and 200-meter world titles, respectively, in the Budapest event.
However, when the focus shifted to the Diamond League finals at the Hayward Field Stadium in Eugene, both Lyles and Richardson had to face upsetting defeats at their 100-meter meets. Both reigning world champions will seek redemption in the upcoming Diamond League next year. Meanwhile, the 15-stage league has unveiled its jam-packed 2024 calendar.
Diamond League with an updated 2024 season

The Track Spice account took it to Twitter (now X) to share the 2024 Diamond League calendar. As per their caption that reads “Belgium will be hosting the 2024 Diamond League Final,” finals will be happening in Brussels. The 2024 season will kick off on April 20, with the first leg to be organized in Xiamen’s Egret Stadium, China.
Seven days after the first meeting, another city in China, i.e., Shanghai, will host the second event, while the month of May will have four legs of the league, which will be the Doha Diamond League, Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athletisme de Rabat.

Hayward Field, the venue for the 2023 finals, will once again host the Prefontaine Classic, and then the Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway, will be the sixth stage of the league. After BAUHAUS-Galan, Stockholm, Meeting de Paris, Herculis, Monaco, the London Athletics Meet, Athletissima, Lausanne, and the Kamila Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow, Poland, the league will reach its conclusive stage.
After the Golden Gala in Roma, Italy, and the Weltklasse in Zurich, the Memorial Van Damme in Brussels will mark the end of the league. The excitement generated by the thrilling 2023 season has heightened anticipation for the upcoming Diamond League season.

A thrilling 2023 season that ended on a staunch note
In the finals, Christian Coleman made history when he ran a world-leading time of 9.83 seconds for the second time in the league and outperformed Noah Lyles to win the trophy. Shericka Jackson also won both 100 and 200-meter meets and lifted trophies on both days of the finals.
Ethiopian runner Gudaf Tsegay broke the 5000-meter world record when she won the race in 14:00.21. Mondo Duplantis of Sweden was the second athlete to break a world record in pole vaulting; he broke the record for the seventh time when he placed sixth at 6.23 meters.

Athing Mu of the United States set a new American record. Chase Ealey of America was declared the winner in the shotput women’s category with a throw of 20.76 meters, while Joe Kovacs was the winner in the men’s category with a 21.93-meter throw. There were seven American athletes who lifted the Diamond trophies in the 2023 finals and brought glory to the United States. The next focus for these athletes and fans would now be the upcoming Diamong League 2024 and would be much anticipating the event upon seeing the new schedule.
