The world champion in the 100 and 200 meters, Noah Lyles, has made a name for his dedication to others besides his sporting abilities. Lyles recently showed his remarkable speed at the Atlanta City Games, narrowly missing Usain Bolt’s 150-meter world record. It highlights his capacity for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. But it’s not just his on-track antics that have drawn notice from everyone.

Through the Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation, Lyles and his brother Josephus have committed themselves to giving back to the community. The Union Athletics and Lyles Foundation Invitational, their next event, is set to give youngsters in the DMV region a stage to display their abilities and gain guidance from the top competitors in the field. Recently, Union LB Sports Foundation banners were featured in an Instagram story posted by Noah Lyles. The banners, which promote Lyles’ achievements and connection to the organization, prominently include pictures of him and his brother Josephus Lyles.

The meet is set for May 19, 2024, at Clarksburg High School. The quickest athletes in the DMV region are invited to participate and meet Olympian Noah Lyles at this event, which was announced on Instagram. “🚨BIG ANNOUNCEMENT🚨 We’re excited to be hosting the Union Athletics/Lyles Foundation Invite on May 19th!” read the post. Inviting the youngsters, the post caption further reads, “Are you one of the fastest sprinters in the DMV? Olympian Noah Lyles wants to see!! Register for our meet and participate in one of the best meets this spring!! More info to come soon!”

This competition is a thorough attempt to encourage and assist the upcoming generation of athletes, not simply about performance. Adidas freebies for the first 1,000 competitors, medals for the best finishers, and the chance to meet and get autographs from Noah Lyles are all part of the invitational. Thus, these meets aim to inspire and empower young athletes by giving them the resources and drive they need. This comes a few days after Noah teased about the meet on his X writing, “DMV we coming your way! P.s yes we will be there 😉” This is something that the two brothers have been doing for quite some time.

The Lyles Brothers’ promise to the next generation

Through their organization, the Lyles brothers have continuously shown their dedication to youth empowerment. The Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation was founded in 2020 to encourage youth well-being and good health. It also covers key issues like college readiness, mental health awareness, and anti-bullying campaigns.

Moreover, the Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation has taken part in several programs designed to help young people develop successfully and overcome hurdles. On February 28, 2023, they organized the “Overcoming Obstacles” event, where they interacted with students about their struggles and adventures. This activity is part of a larger plan to give youngsters helpful role models and backing. During the Black History Month last year, Noah had opened up about his thoughts on his foundation.

“We know there are tons of kids out there and youths that are striving to achieve what me and my brother have done and just don’t have the resources. We’ve always known that we wanted to give back to those communities, try to find those youth that can reach the top and give our insight, whether that’s with mental health, nutrition or even being physical – getting them into sports, introducing them to the right people,” Noah had said on that occasion. That reiterates a prominent side of Noah’s personality.

Noah has, in the past, often stated that he never wants to be someone who just comes, runs, and goes away. He wants to transcend the sport, utilizing his recognition on the track as a platform. The foundation marks one more effort from Noah in that direction. It only shows his sincerity toward his commitment that he took this up even amid the nearing Olympic games. It remains to be seen how many more ventures Noah gets into to become someone who truly stands tall beyond the boundaries of the tracks.
