Every accolade in the athletic realm comes at a cost. Athletes must be ready to stake everything they hold dear for that one victorious moment. This facet of sports is clear to one New Jersey-based hurdler who was left on the sidelines for far too long due to unforeseen circumstances.

America’s star hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is gunning to make a return to track and field. Her absence was noted by even her fandom during the Monaco Diamond League. However, the resilient hurdling legend remains undeterred, embracing a glass-half-full perspective as she strives for her triumphant return to track and field.

Forever the devout Christian, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s faith in God did not diminish despite her tribulations. She could not compete at the 2023 World Athletics Championship or the Diamond League due to a minor knee injury.

The divine intervention came in the form of a knee surgery, which kept her bedridden for weeks. Recently, she guest-starred at the Dream Check podcast with her husband, Andre Levrone, and spoke about her lessons through those obstacles.

She said, “And how I stay submitted and obedient, and it’s going to be able to prove and show to the world that Christ is working in me”. The podcast’s host uploaded a video teaser on their official Instagram page with a quote from the Olympic gold medalist in the captions. It said, “When we can have joy in our trials and tribulations, it shows our genuineness in our faith”.

She referenced Peter 1 from the bible to say, “We’re not promised in this Christian life that we’re not gonna have trials and tribulations. That’s actually the one thing we are promised”. These difficult times are actually opportunities to rise beyond the ordinary and excel in your craft. As Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone continued her monologue, the secret to her athletic prowess slowly became more transparent.
