Is October the new month of love for athletes, or just a coincidence with these engagements?

Noah Lyles announced on October 13th on his Instagram story that he has gotten engaged to Jamaican track star Junelle Bromfield. He captioned the story, saying, “To my future wife, I Will Love You Forever 💍” He had created a great setup that included petals, candles, and a heart-shaped sign that read, “Will you marry me?” Junelle then said yes, kissing her soon-to-be husband in a very heartwarming moment.

Now, three days after his engagement, he put out a post on X saying, “This is really engagement month.” While this might be considered a normal post by Noah Lyles, who is regarded as highly confident, it actually has a larger significance. This is because two other big-name athletes have also gotten engaged this month. One of them was American shotput legend Ryan Crouser, who got engaged to his girlfriend on October 16th. Noah was celebrating this news through the tweet.

Crouser announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Megan Clark, on Instagram. He proposed to the former pole vaulter on a yacht. The track star captioned his engagement post, saying, “She Said Yes!!! 💍 Thank you, Trentino, Lake Garda will always have a special place in our hearts. #engagement #lakegarda” Lake Garda is a lake in Italy. It was chosen to be the spot for this auspicious event by Ryan Crouser. It was surprising news for the track community as it came on the heels of Noah Lyles’ engagement. However, another track star got engaged to his fiancee before the 100m gold medalist this month.

It was none other than the pole vaulting sensation of Mondo Duplantis. The Swede got engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Desire Inglander, on October 11th, two days before Noah Lyles could complete the task. The couple has been dating for four years, and Mondo finally decided to pop the question. Desire later shared the news on Instagram, captioning it with, “Life is not real.” It was a special moment as the couple had made waves at the Paris Olympics as Mondo went to the stands to kiss her immediately after breaking the world record.

Thus, this completely proves Noah’s point of this month being the engagement month. Three couples are now going to start a new journey in their lives. For Noah Lyles, however, it felt like it was a long time coming, as Junelle and him have been in each other’s side through thick and thin.

Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield started dating each other during the summer of 2022. They made their first appearance together in that December at the USATF Night of Legends Celebration, where Noah took home the male athlete of the year award. However, they were friends way before that. This was confirmed by Junelle when she posted a story celebrating their first anniversary in August 2023. She said, “Cheers to 7 years of friendship 🫂, 6 months of dating, 1 year of being your partner, And to forever loving you ❤️🙏🏿.”

Both of them have been great for each other, as Junelle has acknowledged Noah’s impact on her mental health. He was the one who introduced her to therapy, as he had been taking part in it since his childhood. Noah has also acknowledged that Junelle has made him a better person. “It has taught me a lot of patience and I believe this is my best relationship ever,” he said in the Inside Track podcast. They have said that while they look to improve each other as much as possible, they also accept each other for who they are.

Thus, it seems like the couple is extremely happy in their relationship, making the engagement news even more special. Hopefully, just like engagement month, the wedding month comes soon too so that lovebirds could finally tie the knot.
