There can be a hundred different places to walk a dog, but a professional sporting arena might not necessarily be one of them. Purely due to the risk factor, it involves endangering the life of both the dog and the athlete. A similar situation took place on a running track, and a seemingly harmless environment came very close to turning into a devastating one. As US Olympian Micah Williams saved himself right in the nick of time from crashing into a dog, the athletics world had a field day condemning the bizarre scenario.

This whole scene was captured in the video (present below), and the fans couldn’t help but rip into the dog-walker for bringing a dog into the arena.

An Instagram post by Trackoval read, “Who walks dog on the track lol?” finishing the question with the ubiquitous abbreviation meaning ‘Laugh out Loud’, indicating the nature of the hilarious situation. It may be hilarious, but it could’ve been dangerous, possibly fatal. The caption read, “That time I almost died” with the picture of the sprinter.

Micah Williams was in a gray t-shirt and green shorts. Alongside the picture, a video was attached. It captured the incident from the moment he took off from the blocks and sprinted to the point where he had to slow down and dodge the canine and its owner. The dog, whose breed wasn’t clear, was a relatively small-sized furry animal. However, a crash at that speed could’ve still been very lethal.

While the video ended before any confrontation took place between the owner and the athlete, this didn’t stop fans from calling the walker out.

Track and Field world blasts the dog-walker left and right

Disaster was averted as Williams slowed down and moved into the next line. All’s well that ends well? Not quite for the track and field world.

One user revealed that they had sustained an injury while supposedly stopping and changing direction, just like Williams did. They wrote,?“Strained a hamstring like that earlier this year. Kid decided to run full speed in front of me while not looking.”

“Can anyone be more stupid than that? I hope it was staged, otherwise there’s no hope,”?wrote someone who was almost in disbelief on seeing the incident.

“He was kind enough NOT to truck her and the dog!” said a really angry and upset fan. He was totally blaming the dog owner for walking their dog on a running track.

“Some people it’s just ‘incredible,'” said a person, whose snarkiness could be felt in his voice. He was mocking the dog-walker for their seeming lack of attention.

“This dog is preparing for next birth,” said a fan, mocking the small dog for avoiding death by a narrow margin.

“Who tf walks their dog on a track ?!?”?said another person whose incredulity was palpably audible in his words. It’s something that is out of the ordinary.

To put a humorous leash on it, dogs are pretty fast. Some might even be faster than the great Usain Bolt. However, on a more serious note, a track for running or any other sport should be reserved for athletes. This would not only avoid injuries but also be more respectful of the sport.
