In 2009, Usain Bolt ran 100 m in 9.58 seconds, setting a world record that still stands to date. The most successful male athlete at the world championships kept up his dominance, but long before 2016, some experts had predicted that age might catch up with the Jamaican. By 2016 Bolt was no longer the youngest athlete on the track, and a few believed he might have difficulty retaining his undefeated status in the 100 m and 200 m.
However, the Jamaican track and field star proved the doubters wrong, winning three Olympic golds in Rio. Earlier, the official Olympic Games Instagram page shared the video of the legendary sprinter’s dominant 100 m semi-finals performance, where he clocked a time of 9.84 seconds. The video shows how Usain Bolt dashed so far ahead of the pack that he looked back and still won the race.
