Noah Lyles stands by Junelle Bromfield—Is love more important than fan approval in sports?

Noah Lyles has always been in the news. Despite his heroics on the track, there are numerous instances of him not being liked by fans. The most famous of these is the NBA controversy. This was when he ridiculed them for using the World Champions tag for their title winners. Basketball fans and players both trolled him on this. They even went as far as rooting against him in Paris. Obviously, it had no effect whatsoever, as he ended up winning the gold medal.

Recently, he wished his girlfriend Jamaican athlete Junelle Bromfield through a Twitter post. In it, he also highlighted the immense hatred towards her from her own nation. This received backlash from the fans. They were quick to retaliate against him and claimed that he had only himself to blame on this matter. In a recent interview, Lyles claimed that Blomfield gives him a lot of inside information about the happenings in the Jamaican national team. Many labeled her a traitor for this.

This is because of him causing hate towards her with his comments. Another fan wrote that he should have wrote up an apology days before, which would have made the hate get a bit lesser. She wrote, “You could have sent this tweet ages ago with an apology! You literally made the country fall out with the girl cause you couldn’t let private things she told you stay private and you are the reason she’s getting all these h@tes!”

Have an interesting take?

Some fans talked about how he should be respectful of the private boundaries in his relationship. She said, “Maybe try respecting boundaries in your relationship and not revealing private and sensitive information she thought would be helpful to her boyfriend. The hate should be tripled and sent to you, not her.” A reply to this agreed with it and said that she would never have gotten this much hate had it not been for him. They said, “no literally because he’s making this tweet as if he wasn’t the one who came back and talked. we wouldn’t have known she was telling him stuff about her teammates if HE didn’t go on live and snitched.”

Every comment basically agreed with the fact that he should probably think before he speaks about anything. “Bro all this is really your fault, she was practically unknown to most Jamaicans until you made known what you guys been talking about, thus resulting in the masses not being pleased and finding that unacceptable. Just keep your mouth to yourself next time.” said one. It’s interesting to see where Lyle’s comments lead to. Will it really lead to separation between him and Blofield like the comments are suggesting? For now, there are no indications to this.
