As the Boston Marathon approaches, a heartwarming story of a father from Duxbury has emerged. Despite his own challenge of losing his three children of tender age, he is set to participate in the Boston Marathon. As he declares, he has decided to take the step in honor of his beloved children and support a noble cause for the children.

The dad whose children were killed last year, plans to run The Boston Marathon on Monday to raise money for Boston’s Children’s Hospital. The Massachusetts man can be strong enough to hide his pain and turn that tragedy into a bright light by helping sick children and supporting noble causes with the Miles for Miracles team.

On his fundraising page, Patrick Clancy has announced his decision to join the Miles for Miracles team, dedicating his efforts to support the courageous children at Boston Children’s Hospital as a tribute to his own children. He recalls the devastating memory he went through last year and said, “In the short time they were here, my kids brought me so much joy and couldn’t have made their dad prouder.” His run will embody this very passion of his children for life. But what was it that brought this misfortune to him?

Clancy’s children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, were allegedly strangled to death by their mother, Lindsay Clancy, in January 2023, before she jumped from the window in a suicide attempt. Patrick Clancy says he was inspired to run for the cause in part because of the care Boston Children’s Hospital gave his baby Callan before the 8-month-old died in his arms.

Clancy wrote, “They gave me a little more time with my boy and I’ll forever be grateful for that”. As a remembrance, he runs with his ‘Happy Callan’ bracelet, a resin piece with his children’s handprints. With all the upheavals in his life, Patrick did not fall short of camaraderie as his fundraising stands as a massive success.

Patrick Clancy can not be grateful enough

With the donations small and big, people either personally connected or who have heard the tragedy continue to support Patrick Clancy. His Miles for Miracles fundraiser page of Boston Children’s Hospital had a goal of $40,000. However, it has already raised $40,328.97 so far. He has seen this success previously as well.

The GoFundMe for Patrick Clancy initially aimed for $500,000 and in January last year, it was achieved within almost a single day with 5,700 donors within a day. The goal was then raised to $700,000 and eventually to $1 million. In February 2023 this target was also fulfilled. Patrick could not have been more grateful as he expressed his heartfelt gratitude back then.
