Born and raised in Iowa, Lolo Jones had already begun smashing track records before she even graduated college. The LSU alum set an American record once by winning back-to-back world titles at the 60m indoor hurdles championship. More recently, Lolo Jones made heads turn at the highly anticipated 2023 ESPY Awards.

The world champion left everybody mesmerized at the legendary Dolby Theatre in glamorous Hollywood, California. All eyes were on her, and she did not disappoint. Throughout the event, the Charles Barkley of the Olympics radiated immense confidence and poise. After the event, Jones took to her social media to share a playful update about her upcoming months.

Jones’ plans for the next 4 months

After setting the red carpet ablaze, Jones tweeted her plans for the next four months. The Bobsledder posted a picture of herself from the ESPYs and captioned it, “Had fun. Going back to sweatpants for the next 4 months.” Her black dress was elegantly complemented by a chunky silver choker, that exuded a bold and fierce aura. She completed her dazzling ensemble by donning shiny silver star earrings. In an Instagram post, Jones informed her followers that she almost missed the ESPYs entirely because she has been rehabbing her hip.

The ESPY Awards are like the Oscars of the sporting world. An event that honors excellence in sports performance. It also provides an opportunity for these athletes, who are typically drenched in sweat on the field or court, to transform into style icons for a night. And Lolo Jones took her opportunity. She embodied the perfect blend of athleticism and elegance and stood out in the process. However, the accomplished hurdler recently hinted that she might be hanging up her boots after 40 years.

Lolo Jones opens up on retirement

After a career spanning multiple decades, the former LSU hurdler hinted at calling it a day. Recently Jones suggested that she is contemplating retirement and wants to pursue more peaceful endeavors. The hurdler claimed that she is thinking of following a similar path to NFL legend Tom Brady, who recently retired. Speaking about the lead-up to her retirement, Jones told Daily Mail, “Right now I’m currently gardening. I know it seems super weird, but I’m just trying to do things that are peaceful. I tell everybody I’m on a day-by-day plan.”

It remains to be seen if Jones retires. Her last medal came at the 2021 World Championships, where she clinched gold.
