Another day, another splendid day in the office for Noah Lyles. The reigning world champ just blitzed through competition just a while ago as he dished out a spellbinding 9.92 seconds finish in the men’s 100m 1st Round at the US Olympic Team Trials. With that, he also sent out a subtle message to his national teammate Kyree King, who only yesterday claimed that any past accolades of the athletes won’t matter till they show their mettle in Oregon. But what’s a high-stakes tournament without some drama?
It’s not just his on-track performances that keep the fans swooning over Lyles. The Olympian’s off-track persona and social media shenanigans are equal contributors to his widespread fame. However, moments after his latest victory, the trolls found yet another route in an attempt to get under Lyles’ skin.
Noah Lyles’ celebration backfires

The 26-year-old sprinter sought to celebrate his triumph in the first race of his road to Paris via an Instagram post. Captioned, “We just get warming up,” the post comes with an edited video that highlights the best moments from the race. He also looked to stand his opponents in attention, hinting that tomorrow’s 100m semifinal and final races will see him take to the tracks with a similar mindset as he did today. However, it was Noah’s choice of words for his social media post that the fans couldn’t get over.

While the message in Noah’s post isn’t hard to decipher, considering how more events are lined up in the next few days, fans couldn’t help but take the opportunity as a moment to inject some fun into the whole situation. As the Olympics inch closer, the competition is justifiably getting stronger. Moreover, the battle to get into Team USA itself is even more stringent. Under such circumstances, a few chuckles won’t go amiss, as Noah’s followers would show.
Fans in splits over the Olympian’s wordplay
For an athlete of Noah’s stature, bagging gold medals in competition should be the primary focus. But that doesn’t get him a hall pass from Ryan, who commented, “Bro forgot English,” under the Olympic medalist’s post.

“Ni*** so fast he can’t type properly,” reads the comment from another fan, who is obviously both elated to witness Noah’s spectacular prowess and flummoxed as to why the world champ would go on to use such debatable grammar in his social media post. Noah’s latest race saw him post a time of roughly 0.09 seconds slower than his best in the 100m race, and this fan is evidently gasping for breath after both the race and Lyles’ twisted English.
Josh commented, “Who is running this man social,” as they looked concerned that the world’s current fastest man could post something without thinking twice about what he was writing.
With the men’s 100m final still to come, not to mention the 200m and relay spots still being up for grabs, Noah will have to keep his head in the game and hit the tracks before locking horns with his competitors over the coming days. Understandably, he has his plates full. Possibly referring to the fact that Lyles has places to be, one fan believes the sprinter might have not given his IG post as much thought as he should have. “bro posted this in a hurry and forgot his words,” chuckles Sam Sorensen.

However, Noah’s breakneck speed would remain the highlight of the day, and one fan’s comment perfectly captures the emotions that are running through the community right now.”Bro just casually runs sub -10 in heats,” wrote a fan who is, like many of us, still reeling from what they saw hours ago.
