Is Gabby Thomas's post-Olympics fun a distraction, or will it fuel her 2024 season success?

If you won three gold medals at the greatest sporting tournament in the world, you’d also want time off to enjoy your feat. For Harvard graduate Gabby Thomas, idyllic days were in order, especially considering how her time at the French capital went last month. Hauling three individual and team gold medals at the 2024 Olympics, Thomas is making the most of her days. But she isn’t off the hook yet, as Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian reminds.

In her recent Instagram post, the two-time Olympian shared how she’s reveling in her Olympic glory. Accompanied by several emojis, the neurobiology student uploaded a number of images to showcase the fun she’s having to mark a successful 2024 campaign. From an Olympic-themed diamond ring, and having a coffee with her four-legged companion, to BTS snippets from the shooting of the second season of Netflix docu-series SPRINT, Thomas seems to have a lot on her plate even though the 33rd Games are over. But she still has some work to do, as the training images from her post indicate.

Ohanian’s ambitious NYC Athlos is fast approaching, and Thomas is one of the main attractions of the upcoming event. While Gabby soaks up the sun with her dear ones, Ohanian also had to remind the Olympian that her season hasn’t ended just yet. In the comment section of Thomas’ post, Serena Williams’ husband wrote, “One more race to go……….” with a cute emoji, trying to make sure the biggest star of his show is indeed preparing for the female-only track and field event, scheduled to take place this Thursday at the Icahn Stadium, NY.

But Gabby being the dedicated athlete she is, seems to be on top of things as well. Maintaining a proper diet and training hard on the tracks, as her post shows, Thomas seems to be getting her socks up pretty well.

Ever since Thomas was announced as one of the main stars of Ohanian’s tournament, fans have been highly anticipating the event. On top of that, Ohanian has also relentlessly credited the sprinter for giving the Athlos NYC a platform to tickle the fancy of track connoisseurs from around the world. While Thomas’ stint at this week’s event will definitely be a treat for the fans, it certainly won’t be the only reason for them to flock to New York City.

Along with Gabby, Olympic gold medalist Faith Kipyegon of Kenya, and the Dominican Republic’s Marileidy Paulino, Britain’s Annie Tagoe will also bring their speeding prowess to the Icahn Stadium this Thursday to entertain fans to the best of their abilities. American sprinting celebrities Alexis Holmes and Masai Russell are also part of the sensational roster that Athlos has racked up and are sure to make the fans witness some more incredible moments on the tracks. Moreover, a special appearance by rapper Megan Thee Stallion is also likely to get the attendees feeling good vibes after the track stars dish out their best performances later this week.

The 2024 NYC Athlos also promises to raise the bar significantly higher when it comes to women’s sports. With Ohanian’s commitment to bringing more exposure to women’s athletics already well-established, fans can expect the Athlos to set new industry benchmarks in terms of payment to its participants. A band of popular brands will act as the sponsors for the inaugural edition of the tournament, and Thomas’ presence at the helm of it will only make things more titillating. Wouldn’t you say so too? Tell us which athlete are you looking forward to the most at Ohanian’s grand project with a comment!
