The world of sports is a very demanding one. Every pro athlete trains rigorously to compete with their peers as well as the new talent that joins their discipline every year. This gives way to their endurance and resilience on the tracks that set them apart from others. It is especially true for athletes who consistently deliver legendary performances like Noah Lyles, who bagged the 2023 Athlete of the Year Award last month.

Alongside performances, the very build of Noah Lyles seems to justify the ‘icon’ tattoo he has on his torso. Interestingly, he recently spoke about the work he puts his body through to generate results that allowed him to bag a triple gold at the WAC.

The Budapest threepeater recently appeared for an interview with The Washington Post. Mentioning his training, Noah Lyles said, “I’ve of course trained my body to do things no one else has… But I’ve never felt like I’ve slowed down that process.” This showcases that despite being at the top, Lyles doesn’t just stay consistent, but also tries new and unique things to stand apart from the crowd.

Noah Lyles has recently been posting several weightlifting videos of himself on his official X account. While this is visible work on his quads and glutes, an invisible X-factor that greatly benefits the 6x World Champion is quality sleep. Lyles takes care of the amount of sleep he gets and isn’t negligent when it comes to rest and recovery.

Interestingly, Lyles took a two-hour nap right before he won his third WAC gold medal in the 200m dash at Budapest. While one may think that Lyles cultivated this discipline just recently, he has been doing it for a very long time. In fact, he has been pushing his body ever since he was a bedridden asthma patient.

The conditioning that had taken root a long time ago

Noah Lyles has often mentioned his struggles with asthma and depression as a child. The 26-year-old has vivid memories of laboring hard to draw breath in several crevices of his head. But, he worked hard to overcome his illness and followed an extremely disciplined approach to get better.

As once said by Noah Lyles, he still lives with his asthma, even amid all the dazzling performances. Just that is under control with extreme discipline. That same discipline helps him to push harder and last longer than the others. Noah Lyles is utilizing the same work ethic to surpass track and field legend Usain Bolt.
