The world of sports gives a stage for players to showcase their talents and win trophies, medals, and prizes. Interestingly, it also gives them a stage to voice their opinions and win the hearts of people. Leveraging the advantage of this position, track and field legend Allyson Felix has often spoken about the various needs of female athletes, especially mother athletes.

While Tommie Smith and John Carlos had to create a strong impact in one fell swoop, social media allows players to communicate more freely. Allyson Felix is one of the most vocal and proactive athletes who raised several major issues. Today, however, Felix has helped in the forging of an answer instead of demanding one and shared it via social media.

Allyson Felix took to Instagram and shared a story of a news report with her fans. The news report talked about a protein called sFlitl that is produced by the placenta in expecting mothers. When produced in large amounts, it leads to high levels of blood pressure, which can also lead to preeclampsia.

The news story also shared that Comanche Biopharma has come up with a way to limit the production of this protein. Allyson Felix added a caption along with this news and wrote, Thrilled to be part of the @comanchebiopharma team doing important work toward developing a therapy to treat the root cause of preeclampsia.”

Preeclampsia is a serious complication that occurs during pregnancy, wherein the blood pressure may rise to hypertension levels. It leads to the body developing swellings in the limbs and the face as well. However, Allyson Felix and Conache now have a solution to this problem.

Interestingly, Felix had once said that her achievements were given life by the female athletes before her. She also noted that she would like to be a torchbearer for athletes who come after her as well. Although she has already accomplished a lot in this area, she took one more step with this feat today.
