Noah Lyles ditched a collegiate career opportunity to turn pro right after high school. While the success the 26-year-old enjoys today eluded him for a long time, Lyles always believed in the process. More than anything, he believes in himself and wants to be viewed as an icon. For this very reason, the sprinter got the word inked right below his ribcage in capital letters in 2018.

The inspiration for this comes from Jaden’s 2017 song ‘Icon’, whose lyrics say, “Icon tatted on my torso (huh?).” However, Noah Lyles truly embodies the word and his journey has proven that he truly is an icon. According to Men’s Health, Lyles recently unveiled his plans for 2024 after a spectacular 2023.
Noah Lyles said, “We’re going after everything… We’re going after the triple. Going after the world record, too. I know I can do this.” If Noah Lyles achieves this, he will have an Olympic threepeat under his name as well. Moreover, he will acquire the same bragging rights as Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, and Usain Bolt.
Interestingly, the icon tattoo isn’t the only tattoo Noah Lyles has on his torso. In fact, when his other tattoo is combined with his icon one, it sounds like a prophecy.
