Sha’Carri Richardson Has a Message for American Record Holder Ahead of World Indoor Championships

Sha’Carri Richardson recently extended a hearty message to an American record-holding athlete. The 2023 National Athlete of the Year extended her congratulations to her senior from Louisiana State University. Notably, while SCR is skipping the indoor season of track and field herself, she has wished her LSU counterpart days before the upcoming 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championship.

Aleia Hobbs is a US sprinting Olympian and world championship gold medalist. She is the fastest woman in North America in the 60m indoor track, where she boasts a 6.93 second-finish. Hobbs recently completed another year and Sha’Carri Richardson wished and congratulated her LSU senior for the same via a story on Instagram. In fact, she even revered her Olympic athlete senior as a source of inspiration.

Wishing a happy birthday and slyly arranging a new meeting

Celebrating the birthday of Aleia Hobbs, Sha’Carri Richardson wrote, “@aleiabitofthis HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU, an icon fr 💛💛.” The 2x World Champion also appreciated the non-athletic parts of Hobbs and wrote, “Amazing mother, daughter, friend, and competitor.” 

Notably, Sha’Carri Richardson had chosen to renounce her collegiate career to run as a professional. Because of this and their respective track careers, the duo haven’t seen a lot of each other since LSU. However, SCR creatively suggested that the two should set up a meeting really soon.

Sha’Carri Richardson also wrote in her story, “We need new pictures 😂.” However, the picture SCR posted also carried a wholesome vibe from the duo’s LSU days. Just turned 28, Aleia Hobbs is a relay race expert who won the 4x100m silver at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene. She also earned the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. 

While Richardson missed a ticket to Tokyo last time, she is looking forward to Paris. In fact, she has already beaten all the top three medalists of the Tokyo Olympics’ 100m dash.

Sha’Carri Richardson to claim maiden Olympic glory at Paris?

The year 2023 had the name of Sha’Carri Richardson written all over it. The 23-year-old surpassed all the Jamaican speedsters who had previously defeated her on 21 August 2021 at the Prefontaine Classic’s 100m dash. The Texas native outclassed Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson at the 2023 WAC while registering the fifth-fastest time at 10.65 seconds.

Just a few days after that, she also overcame the 2021 race’s victor, and the fastest woman alive, Elaine Thompson-Herah at the Zurich Diamond League. Sha’Carri Richardson had foreshadowed her stellar comeback right after her 2021 loss when she came dead last in the race. 

Today, she has equalized the scores against her rivals. However, Sha’Carri Richardson still has a lot of work to do, as she got bested in 2023’s Eugene Diamond League. Thus, she will look forward to stomping her competition at the biggest stage of all, at the 2024 Olympics. Will the ravishing SCR be able to ramp up her game in another 152 days to win the gold in Paris?
