NBC Sports recently tweeted a statistic showcasing the data of the participants from different states for the trials. The tweet carried the caption, “Colorado has 71 entrants at #MarathonTrials24 this weekend, more than twice as many as any other state!” The second-highest number of marathon runners was registered in the state of California with 35 participants.

This statistic showcases the eagerness of Colorado runners. However, many X users commented that the data heavily favors Colorado because many people go to the state for marathon training. However, US citizens bear the citizenship of both their country and their state, and thus, state identity is also a permanent aspect of one’s background. Moreover, changing state citizenship is a tedious process.

The data also showcased the number of men and women participants from the states and Colorado has 40 male and 31 female marathon runners. Interestingly, a US runner stands a chance to become a five-time Olympian with these trials.
