"Mya Lesnar misses Paris Olympics—Is this a minor setback or a major blow to her career?"

Heartbreak for Mya Lesnar. Pro wrestling icon Brock Lesnar’s daughter has risen to fame thanks to her performance as part of CSU’s shot put squad. After helping Colorado to its fifth Mountain West Outdoor Championship, Mya was hailed as one of the top contenders to make it to Paris for her debut Olympic Games. However, it didn’t play out as the Beast Incarnate or his daughter would’ve wanted it to.

Mya’s hopes of coming out of his legendary father’s shadows seem to have taken a blow as she was handed a major disappointment by her peers in Oregon only hours ago. Despite winning her first NCAA title this year, Brock’s daughter failed to punch her ticket to the French capital.

According to the official USATF website, in the women’s shot put final at the ongoing US Olympic Track and Field Team Trials, Mya placed last with a 16.77m throw. Her performance was miles behind her personal best (19.08m), but it seems like her peers’ experience was the deciding factor that prevented Mya from making the final team.

With a season’s best throw of 20.10m, Chase Jackson secured the top spot in the women’s shot put in Oregon and was on her way to her debut Olympic Games. The 29-year-old was a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA D1 circuit during her four years at OSU and is now eyeing to add the biggest prize of them all to her trophy cabinet.

While Mya couldn’t do the needful to add more to the Lesnar legacy, being a 22-year-old, she will undoubtedly get more opportunities to show how the competitive mentality runs deep in her blood. But now that she’s getting settled into her athletics career, Mya is enjoying the change that has become the norm in her household.

Mya Lesnar couldn’t take advantage, despite father’s support

In an interview with 9 News from a couple of days ago, Mya noted how it’s now Brock’s turn to keep tabs on her career after years of being his daughter’s favorite athlete. Stating that despite Brock’s stardom, he has always been his father first, the young gun revealed how the tables have turned. “I have been in his shadow for so many years, which is cool, I guess. But at the end of the day, he is just dad to me. I don’t see him as a Superstar, just someone in my corner. Now, I’m kind of in the spotlight with him in my shadow, watching me. I think that is super cool,” said Mya.

The 1st round of the tournament was encouraging for Mya, who threw 17.70m yesterday to qualify for the finals. However, Hayward Field ended up handing Brock’s daughter with an unexpected heartbreak, considering how she has done incredibly well in the NCAA this season.

Now that Mya’s journey to Paris comes to an end, it waits to be seen if she bounces back with vigor as another collegiate season looms upon us.
