As reported by Los Angeles Times, Athing Mu is uncertain about her appearance for the upcoming World Athletics Championships that are going to commence on August 19. But she has yet to clear the air about whether she is going to participate in the 800 meters or not. According to some speculations, the reason for her giving up her spot is that she wants to focus on the preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Talking about which, her coach Bobby Kersee stated, “It?s in our control if we decide we?re just going to go ahead and train through this year and focus on next year, then that?s what we?re going to do.”
Kersee also stated that their focus is just on training, and he added that if Mu gets on a flight, it is either going to be a vacation or Budapest. Mu, who is the reigning World and Olympic champion in 800 meters, has yet to give a statement about whether or not she is defending her title in Budapest. Though there are no reports of any injuries, she is training hard every day, and there are only three weeks left until the first round of these events.
