Quincy Wilson? He’s already checked that off the list, becoming the youngest track and field Olympic gold medalist in history at just 16. The under-18 world record holder in the 400m, Quincy snagged that gold in the 4x400m relay—without even running in the final! Since then, speculation has been wild about his future.
Some want him to go pro; others are pushing for a college track career. And while he’s been dropping hints, like visiting Texas A&M and posting about the University of Georgia (don’t get too excited—he hasn’t committed), Quincy’s got one more thing to tick off his high school bucket list: Homecoming.
Now, Homecoming is a major deal for any teen, and Quincy already knows exactly who he’s taking. Enter Solai Russell—yes, sister of Olympic hurdler Masai Russell! Solai spilled the tea with an Instagram story, showing her and Quincy in matching tees. His read, “Solai, will you come to Homecoming with me?” while hers said, “I said yes.” She even captioned the post penning, “My heart.” With that, Quincy’s ready to wrap up high school life on a high note.

So the dynamic duo is all set to enjoy one of the most memorable events of their teenage years together. Quincy Wilson popping the big homecoming question to Solai Russell isn’t exactly a shocker—especially when you consider his close ties to her older sister, Masai Russell, the Olympian track star who snatched gold in the 100m hurdles.
Just like Quincy and Solai, Masai Russell also attended Bullis School in Maryland before graduating in 2018. She was also coached by Joe Lee, who currently oversees Quincy Wilson. They possibly knew each other from there and have forged a close relationship. The 16-year-old refers to the Olympic gold medalist as ‘big sister’ and has congratulated her numerous times on her track success.
After Masai Russell put up an Instagram post celebrating her rookie season, Quincy shared it in his story. He then captioned it, saying, “The definition of overcoming adversity! Stayed focused and got the job done! super proud of you, big sis!” Thus, they are both very close. However, the equation between him and her younger sister still remains unclear.
Solai was present in the Baltimore Ravens game against the Buffalo Bills, where Quincy Wilson and Masai met Angel Reese and flexed their Olympic medals. After the match, she put up an Instagram post with only her and Quincy. Thus, something might be brewing between both of them.

However, Quincy Wilson now has a very important decision to make. As he now seems ready to be part of a college for his NCAA career, speculations are rife on which university he’ll choose. The official visits have only increased fan curiosity.
Quincy Wilson’s NCAA dilemma
After taking the decision to compete at the NCAA level before going pro, Quincy Wilson has visited two colleges officially. First was Texas A&M on October 5th, with whom he did a photo shoot and uploaded it on Instagram. However, his journey wouldn’t stop there, as he also traveled to the University of Georgia on October 15. During both of these instances, he confirmed that he hasn’t committed to any college yet. His college tour might not have ended yet, as he might visit others soon.

But many speculate that Quincy Wilson will eventually join Texas A&M. This is because the college was home to Fred Kerley. He is considered one of the NCAA greats as he set the record in 400m with a time of 43.70s, breaking the one set by Quincy Watts 25 years earlier. He also won the NCAA Division 1 Championships in 2017 with a world-leading time of 44.85 seconds. This incredible record of Kerley could lead Quincy to make the decision to join Texas, given his admiration for the athlete. However, it remains to be seen in the coming days about how this whole situation plays out. Hopefully, Quincy makes the right decision, whatever it may be.
