Jamaica’s track and field campaign is off to a rough start. While Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville have both made it to the semi-finals, Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce withdrew. With two gold medal favorites in the 100m and 200m women’s events out of the picture, heartbroken Jamaican fans found a supporter in Noah Lyles‘ mother, Keisha Caine Bishop. What did she do?

The defending world champion’s mother posted a heartfelt tribute to her son ahead of his 100m semifinals in Paris. Bishop showcased her support with unique nail art, featuring the American flag on the index and ring finger of her right hand. However, there was a twist. She also sported the Jamaican flag on her left hand.

So you might be wondering why Keisha Caine would support the country with two of her son’s biggest rivals. Well, she has a good reason. “I’m ready to cheer for @junellebromfield & @teamjamaica tonight as well as @teamusa & @nojo18 this morning,” posted Noah Lyles’ mother. She voiced her support for her son and his girlfriend, Junelle Bromfield.

Bromfield loved this gesture and took to the comment section and wrote, “I love them.”

Junelle Bromfield was set to represent her country for the 400m event as well as the 4x400m event. And that’s why Keisha Cain was rooting for her. So it’s safe to assume that Noah Lyles’ mother must’ve been a little sad after Bromfiled’s team finished in fifth place in the 4x400m relay. Thankfully, the two-time Olympian has a different mindset.

Noah Lyles’ girlfriend will sprint with an unburdened mind…

Despite not finishing in the top three at her first team event in Paris, the Tokyo bronze medalist will have two more shots at Olympic glory. She’s more excited about the 400m individual race. Three years ago, the Jamaican regretted not qualifying for any individual events. However, this year, it’s a different story.

“I said at trials it felt as if a burden was lifted off my shoulders and I still feel like that right now,” Noah Lyles’ girlfriend, Junelle Bromfield, told The Jamaican Gleaner. “I am just running with a lot more love than I was before,” Bromfield said ahead of her 400m heats scheduled for August 5th. So, with the support of her boyfriend and his mother, the Jamaican is in high spirits.

Keisha Cain won’t miss the opportunity to watch Noah Lyles battle for gold on the track at Stade de France. However, she’ll be rooting for Junelle Bromfield with equal enthusiasm. This is a feeling that Junelle holds dear to her heart.

She recently posted a story on Instagram to showcase this balanced-dual support that Keisha was portraying. In the story, Keisha can be seen honing the colors of both the United States and Jamaica. But this isn’t the first time she has shown her support for Bromfield. Back when the athlete moved to Florida, Lyles’s mother was quite supportive. In fact, she initially lived with the Lyles.

“I want to give a big shout-out to my boyfriend and his mom because when I went to Florida, I wasn’t driving, and she took me to training and back every day, which was like 40 minutes … That’s a support that I’m extremely grateful for,” she shared with Inside the Lane in July.

“[His] mom was like, ‘You can’t live by yourself. You’ve got to come and live with us.’ So I lived there, and she took me to practice every single morning and picked me up,” she said.
