The World Indoor Championships 2024 has concluded its second day and we can feel the adrenaline rush already. The 400m category has the most eyes as Femke Bol smashed the world record, clocking in at a time of 49.17s. The 2x world 400m hurdles champion was nothing short of phenomenal on the track, therefore solidifying her name as one of the finest.

But the track would take it to heart if the latest 400m flat race Victor isn’t accoladed for outpacing Karsten Warholm. Let’s take a look at the unpredictable outcome that has been brewing discussions ever since.

Belgian Olympic athlete Alexander Doom has achieved his comfort 60m feat with ease. But the one he outpaced, Warholm, was the hottest favorite of global fans with multiple golds under his belt. The X post of SportsMedia features the race where we can take a glimpse of Doom blazing past his rivals. He, who has always been a promising name in the 4x100m gold medal-winning relay team, has earned an individual pole spot today.

This is the perfect example of new talents threatening the already-established hierarchy. The 3x World champion in the 400m hurdle and the Tokyo Olympic gold medalist wasn’t easy to overtake, but this being Warholm’s primary 400m flat race, it may have cost him a gold. As one of the three pin-ups of the World Indoor Championships alongside Noah Lyles and Femke Bol, Karsten Warholm looked confident. Especially in his latest statement, the nerve of the 2x Diamond League 400m hurdles champion was reflected clearly.

Warholm’s gold medal slipped by a fraction

Though Karsten Warholm won the 400m dash clocking in at 46.68sec, his words later asserted that he was not in his best form. “I came here because I just got a feeling that I want to run a little bit. I am not in my peak shape because I have been training very hard for the summer”.

He further said, “But I just want to have fun and race. I don’t know how well I will do here – time will show.” His chance of maintaining the winning streak went into waters at the Indoor Championships, but he had written a success story on his return to the competitive mat at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. Now, it’s a wait till June to see whether he makes it to Paris or not.
