Is Usain Bolt's legacy more about his records or the young talents he inspires like NJ Junior?

Even though Usain Bolt retired back in 2017, he’s still such a legendary figure in athletics—his world records in the 100m and 200m are still unbroken! His journey to greatness is truly inspiring. By the time he hit 11 or 12, it was obvious he was meant for the track. He could outrun his friends without even trying, all while just playing cricket and football. It’s funny because his childhood friend Nugent Walker was a bit hesitant at first to become Bolt’s executive manager, but he eventually realized how important trust was in Bolt’s inner circle and jumped on board to support him.

Walker has really been a key figure in Usain Bolt’s career, helping him stay focused on running fast while acting as a buffer between Bolt and his management team. Walker admits he gets nervous before Bolt’s races, but he’s always amazed by Bolt’s calmness—after all, the thrill of a cheering crowd is where Bolt truly thrives. Their relationship between the Bolt and Walker is also personal; Bolt is actually the proud godfather to Walker’s son, NJ Junior.

When NJ Junior was born prematurely in 2015, Bolt was right there, constantly checking in before his big race, showing just how deep their friendship goes. As Walker says, “While I’m there for him, he’s always there for me.” And now that little kiddo has turned out to be quite a handful!
