In the world of track and field, few athletes have come close to challenging the legendary Usain Bolt’s unbelievable records. One such formidable competitor is Noah Lyles, a 25-year-old American sprinter who has consistently posed a threat to Bolt’s dominance. He is one of the most technically sound track and field athletes in the world.

Lyles recently shared his valuable insights on running the 200-meter distance in a productive video on his official YouTube channel. In this video, he has elaborated everything briefly about a 200m print – how to start, how to make full use of the track, and how to end the sprint.

In the video, Lyles begins with “200 is a beautiful woman; it’s not the 100; it’s not hard and aggressive; it’s pretty; it’s sexy,” highlighting its elegance and allure. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics Bronze medalist meticulously breaks down every aspect of the race, offering expert advice to aspiring sprinters. From starting the race and positioning the blocks to maintaining the ideal form during different stages, Lyles imparts his knowledge with precision and clarity.

He explains how to run the first 20 meters by starting slowly, standing up until you reach 30 meters, and how to stay in the middle of the lane when you are about to take a turn at 50 meters. Further, he explains that while one is at 60 m, one should not lean in, as it is not technically correct. One should start putting power into the ground in the middle of the race, while managing the waist positions. His technical finesse is evident in his own performances on the track.

Leveling Usain Bolt’s Record

At the recent NYC Grand Prix held at Icahn Stadium on Randall Island, Lyles clocked an impressive time of 19.83 seconds, leveling Usain Bolt’s record of finishing the 200m in under 20 seconds for the 34th time. With a personal best time of 19.67 seconds, Lyles currently holds the title of the world’s fastest man this year in the 200-meter event.

With the second-fastest time in history, Bolt’s world record of 19.19 seconds remains the ultimate target for Lyles, closely followed by Yohan Blake’s 19.26 seconds, as he was almost there in 2022 during the world title when he clocked an impressive time of 19.31 seconds.
