US American track and field athlete, Hunter Woodhall continues to astonish the world with his extraordinary sprinting skills. 3-time Paralympic medalist, Woodhall has several accolades to his name. Recently he once again stunned the crowd by setting a new American record in the men’s 100 meters at the 2024 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships sponsored by Toyota.

Despite that, Hunter Woodhall is looking forward to making a new record in the upcoming events in 400m. In his recent social media post Woodhall stated his willingness to target the 400m in the coming days.

Hunter’s winning streak at the National Championship

Taking to his official Instagram handle, Hunter Woodhall, shared his experience of winning the 100M race at the 2024 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships in Walnut, California. He captioned the post as “100M American Record T62 and PR in my first race. We have made so many changes this year and I was unsure how it would translate. I was nervous to compete, and not as confident as I’d like to be with so many new variables. It’s so validating to see results already coming in so early in the season.”

Apart from that, Hunter expressed his enthusiasm for the next event with an optimistic mindset, mentioning further “It’s just the start, and I’m excited to continue working through challenges and keep getting faster 💪🏼”.

Mentioning that 400m is where he would like to focus, Hunter showed his eagerness for the event. He seems to be setting his sights to make a new record in 400m as well, as he concluded the post writing, “400m finals tomorrow morning!! Let’s go further!!”


In addition to that, he also expressed his gratitude to his wife US track and field athlete Tara Davis-Woodhall, coach Travis Geopfert, Dr. Noah Moos, University of Arkansas Master’s Athlete, Mat Clark, Alex Andrei. He wrote, “I Would like to thank everyone in my corner, couldn’t do it without them” Woodhall set a new American record in the 100 meters, clocking a stunning 11 seconds. However, he had his roadblocks in the previous season.

Woodhall seeks to cement legacy in 400m

At last summer’s world championships, Hunter Woodhall faced some technical difficulties. This prohibited him from racing in his distinctive event, the 400-meter sprint. The recent race was his first Para competition race since that heartbreak at Paris 2023.

“I’m just so happy, It’s so validating. It was a hard lesson to learn at worlds, but it was something I needed, and to see the outcome of that today was just so validating. It means the world to have my team here supporting me, it’s what the sport’s all about and makes the moment so special,” Woodhall said after achieving the record-breaking victory.

Apart from that, he has established himself as a distinguished runner. At the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020, Hunter Woodhall claimed the bronze medal in the 400m T62 race. He also showcased his dominance in the Paralympic Games Rio de Janeiro in 2016 where he earned the bronze in the 400m T44 race and the silver medal in the 200m T44 race. It remains to be seen if he can etch his name in the upcoming 400m race as well.
