The 2022-2023 season was a grand success for Louisiana State University’s freshman basketball player, Angel Reese. A hoard full of praises and cheers for the LSU women’s basketball team continues to pour in after the last month’s national championship victory. Nonetheless, Angel Reese a.k.a. Flau’jae Johnson has been receiving a treasure trove of appreciation off the field. Interestingly, she also is a talented rapper who aspires to collaborate with elite hip-hop banners.
However, earlier this week, she fell prey to a multitude of disregard for her latest remix. The LSU champion recently released her new album ‘Put it on Da Floor’ by Latto. While the rest of the song flaunted Johnson’s skills to full display, one of the lines caught a serious backlash from the social media cult. In the wake of this, the basketball prodigy has to take the video down, and LSU apologized for Johnson’s remix video. However, the star guard’s fellow LSU athlete, Sha’Carri Richardson has some intriguing views on the whole fiasco.

On Tuesday 9th May, the freshman star released a new song and posted the video on her social media handles. Johnson’s version of ‘Put It On Da Floor’, cited a reference to the infamous 9/11 attacks. She says, “In this 911, blowing smoke just like them towers”. Following this, the album received mass criticism on Twitter and other platforms. Hence, the video was removed from all the handles and LSU issued a public apology for the same.
The media house, the Shade Room Teens posted a series of pictures and videos on its Instagram and pulled off the curtains from all the tidbits of the episode. Re-sharing the post on her Instagram story, Richardson expressed her disregard for LSU’s action and captioned, “YES STUDENT-ATHLETE ARE MAKING MORE MONEY BUT NOW THEY’RE GOING TO BE EVEN MORE CONTROLLED BY THESE SCHOOLS…SMH”.

Clearly, Sha’Carri Richardson does not seem happy with how things folded out for Flau’jae Johnson. In its apology statement, LSU made it clear that Johnson’s lyrics got misunderstood by the audience and that the lines which got backlashes wasn’t intentional.
