Maintaining peak performance in track and field can become an arduous task. Even the sport’s legends are not devoid of showing signs of wear and tear as they strive to stay ahead of their peers. For World Champion sprinter Fred Kerley, 2023 hasn’t been a bountiful year. While the Olympics star did manage gold in the 4 x 100m relay race at the World Championships, he was knocked out of the individual 100m track event.

Now, as the American athlete looks to reclaim his top spot, Kerley was recently seen training for a new event. With the 2024 Paris Olympics around the corner, Kerley looks to be blazing all guns as he sets his sights on the 60m event for the first time.

Kerley is considered one of the all-time greatest sprinters in the world. Fred started his career in the 400-meter division but also entered in the 100 and 200-meter avenues in 2020. However, it looks like the sprinter is now focused on overcoming a new milestone in the upcoming Olympics as he trains hard to lift the glory in the 2024 season. In a post on Instagram, the FastUniversity account has shared a short snippet of Kerley training in a 60m course.

Acknowledging that this would take many fans by surprise, the post comes with an apt caption, “I bet y’all didn’t know that @fkerley99 has never ever competed in the 60m dash his whole life.” While fans will justifiably be curious to know how the newest agenda will pan out for Kerley, the post also says they might not need to wait for too long to find out.

“…Well it’s about to happen soon.“, says the post, and we are already hyped. With the 2023 World Athletics Championship proving to be a slump for the track and field star, he is looking for new territories to traverse and get his mojo back. However, things look promising, as Kerley is evidently seen leaving his opponents in the dust as he forges ahead with effortless ease.
