Ahead of the 2023 Prefontaine Classic, all eyes were on Noah Lyles. The track star announced last month that he is concluding his impressive 2023 season after the Zurich leg of the Diamond League. However, he soon issued another statement that he would be racing one last time before bidding goodbye to his 2023 season.

In Eugene, Lyles squared off against Sha’Carri Richardson’s rumored boyfriend Christian Coleman and Ferdinand Omanyala, among others. Lyles only managed a second-place finish behind Coleman and soon took to social media to announce his intent for the upcoming Paris Olympics. But now, he’s left an intriguing message proposing his intentions for the next season.

Noah Lyles stopped the clock in 9.85 seconds at Eugene to secure a second-place finish in the men’s 100m division. Despite his loss, the world champion highlighted his impressive race time with a post on X. The track star informed his fans that 9.85 seconds was his second-best-ever time in the 100m division other than his world-leading time of 9.83 seconds.

He further issued a warning to other competitors for the upcoming Olympics, as part of his caption read, “next year going to be scary.” Coleman recorded another world-leading time of 9.83 seconds as he finished ahead of his Team USA teammate while Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala secured third place and matched Lyles’ time of 9.85. Lyles has hardly put a foot wrong this year as he recorded some impressive runs in 2023.
