One of track and field’s most electrifying athletes, Sha’Carri Richardson, has always been vocal about her issues in public. Whether it is trolling or her recent argument with a flight attendant, Richardson does not shy away from talking about the things that trouble her. Recently, the 23-year-old athlete took to the internet to raise another common concern that deals with her name. 

A few hours ago, the former LSU athlete talked about the wrong pronunciation of her name. She took to her Instagram to share a video of a girl who had a similar issue. Relating to the problem, Sha’Carri corrected the pronunciation of her name in her latest Instagram story.

Pronouncing a name wrong is a common issue. People who have slightly complicated names often become the victims of it, and some try to make sure it is pronounced correctly by others. Athlete Sha’Carri Richardson also has the same concern. In fact, on many occasions, she has corrected reporters and camera persons on multiple occasions.

Recently, Richardson shared an Instagram video of a girl on her story who decides to tell her friends to not call her by her nickname anymore. She teaches them the right pronunciation of her name. Nevertheless, the video also had a caption that stated that one should not feel intimidated to tell others about the appropriate articulation of their names because our names hold power. 

Indeed, Sha’Carri strongly related to the message in the video. Feeling akin to the issue, she wrote the exact pronunciation of her name, which read, “SHA’CARRI (SHA’CAREI)” Moreover, as she related to the video, she explained, “And this why I will correct my name every time. BTW I care a lot lol.”

Nevertheless, the athlete is also fearless about giving it back to her trollers, who judge her on her performance.

After being tested positive for marijuana in 2021, Sha’Carri Richardson was disqualified from participating in the Tokyo Olympics. However, she made headlines by competing against all three women’s 100m Tokyo Olympic medalists — Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson at the 2021 Prefontaine Classic in Oregon.

The 23-year-old came ninth within 11.14 seconds. However, one of her trollers on Twitter called her “Miss 9th placed.” Fearless Sha’Carri did not hold back from giving a befitting reply to her troller,  “Miss 9th place I can change that, what can you do with your life boo, let me help you.”
